Honoring The Best and Brightest Area Football and Cheer Student-Athletes

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS AWARDS DINNER RETURNS THIS DECEMBER

New Event Added For the Piedmont Region in 2024
The 12th Annual Friday Night Lights Awards Dinner proudly returns to honor the best and brightest Football and Cheer Student Athletes in the Greater Charlotte Region.  the 2024 version will be the twelfth anniversary of this very special student recognition event.  New in 2024, we are proud to announce that a brand new version of this event has been added for the Piedmont Region of North Carolina!

On December 8th in Charlotte and December 15th in Salisbury, the Football and Cheer families that make Friday Night lights so special will gather to honor the best and brightest student athletes that have worked so hard over the last year to achieve success.

This prestigious awards night has become a very special evening for football players, cheerleaders, coaches, teams, families and friends. This is the one night of the year when the entire Charlotte and Piedmont football, and communities come together as one to recognize outstanding achievements on and off the football field. Over the last 11 years, finalists have included student-athletes now competing in the NFL and at top-ranked colleges across the country (Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Stanford, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Clemson and many more).

The Friday Night Lights Awards Dinner was founded as a sister event to the 17th Annual Greater Charlotte Hot Stove League Baseball and Softball Awards Dinners and the 5th Annual Piedmont Hot Stove League Baseball and Softball Awards Dinner. Inside the family, youth sports leader, Tripp Roakes also operates the 7th Annual Charlotte Lacrosse Awards and the 4th Annual Charlotte Track and Field Awards.  Roakes operates these events to provide a special spotlight onto local student-athletes and their families, rewarding them for all the time and dedication they have given to their sport.

“I am very excited to operate our 12th Annual event in Charlotte and honor all these amazing football players and cheerleaders,” Roakes said.   “The timing was right to add the Piedmont region event for 2024.   The Piedmont Baseball and Softball Awards event sells out with a crowd of over 500 every year and many of our friends pushed for me to add football and cheerleading to the area.  I can’t wait to honor all the athletes, scholars and leaders in both communities.”

Football and Cheer Award nominations are now open at www.fridaynightawards.com and will be open until the first week of November. Finalists will be notified at that time of their selection and will begin to prepare for the special evening. Over 20 awards will be presented to the top high school and middle school student athletes and all finalists will be recognized at the 12th Annual Friday Night Lights Awards Dinner.
